How does the diet work?
The first step will be to have a fully comprehensive blood test. This is similar to a full blood count. The blood test is undertaken when you are fasting and examines 50 different parameters including your cholesterol levels, your calcium levels, your blood cells, your thyroid, your protein levels, triglyceride levels, iron levels and glucose levels.
After your blood test is done, a tailored nutrition plan will be drawn up within 2 days based on your test results. Your diet plan will take into account your personal food preferences and your medical history and any medications that you are taking.
Will I see a Nutritionist?
Absolutely! You will have a total of 7 consultations with your own personal Metabolic Coach, Victoria Tyler. Her role will be to keep you motivated and ensure that you stay on track. Victoria will teach you what foods to eat and what foods to avoid so that you can lose weight permanently. She is also a specialist in digestive disorders.
What type of foods will I be eating?
The diet plan that will tailored for you will be based on 3 meals per day. All food groups will be included such as protein, carbohydrates and vegetables and fruit.
No more food Cravings!
By eating three meals a day, you will secrete insulin is a controlled manner. Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas whose role is to reduce blood sugar. When there is too much sugar in the blood due to overeating the wrong foods, the excess sugar is dumped into fat cells for storage. This is one way we store fat. By eating the foods on your menu plan, you will balance your insulin levels and the great news is that this will avoid food cravings!
How much weight will I lose?
Most clients lose between 1-3 kgs just on the first week.
After that we expect an average of 1 kg per week, but if you have struggled to lose weight in the past, Metabolic Balance may finally be your solution to permanent weight loss.
What foods should I eat?
Many of our clients feel confused about what to eat, when to eat and some feel completely out of control.
Some clients binge and eat emotionally or have very disordered eating. If you have tried every diet under the sun but just can’t see to lose weight, we can help you.
We do not use fad diets, severe caloric restriction or diet-pills as although these may work in the short-term, they seldom do in the longer term.
Our approach is based on giving you motivation, support and becoming your very own coach. We will coach you individually until you manage to shift all of your unwanted pounds.
You will always have access to free on-going e-mail support and phone support. Our key to success is in keeping you motivated and helping you re-gain your confidence, optimism and vitality
We will tailor a nutrition program based on your current height, weight, activity level and ensure that you are eating a balanced and healthy diet.
Our nutrition plans are based on the latest scientific research. You will be provided with clear and practical information such as sample meal plans. We will formulate an eating plan that is based on your lifestyle whether you are a shift worker, like to cook or eat take-away every night.
Are you addicted to certain foods?
Many of our patients are addicted to certain foods such as sugar, cheese and wheat. Once they remove addictive foods from their diet, they find they can shed pounds and keep the pounds off. We will help you discover if food addiction is causing you trouble.
Your individual nutrition plan begins with a 60-minute initial consultation to review your medical, nutrition and diet history and goals. During this time, we will weigh you and set goals.
After the consultation, we will provide you with a personalized diet-plan based on your current weight, height and activity level. Follow-up appointments are held every 2 weeks. During this time, we ask that you bring a food diary listing the foods that you ate. We will discuss any of the following as appropriate:
- Meal Planning
- Shopping Lists
- Dining out guidelines
- Eating during business travel and vacation
- Goal setting
- Exercise guidelines
Are there any other benefits to Metabolic Balance?
